New practice billing setup.
Start with a plan.

For founders opening a practice. The conversations to have about systems, provider enrollment and billing before your first patient, in the order they tend to need attention.

How we can help

A practical plan.
A shared understanding.

Map your daily work

List the tasks your team will perform: scheduling, documentation, billing, payment posting and reporting. Use that list to guide software demonstrations.

Choose your systems

Practice management and EHR systems are often chosen together. Ask each vendor to walk through your task list, including how a visit becomes a claim and what reports you’ll see. Ask who handles setup, training and ongoing support.

Discuss enrollment early

Identify the providers, locations and payer relationships involved. Ask what information is needed, who will track each application and how status updates will be shared. Payers set participation and effective dates after their own review, so start before you need them. Our credentialing and contracting support covers this work.

Assign responsibilities

Write down what the practice, software provider and billing partner will each handle. Include questions about training, access and ongoing support.

Plan the first claims

Before launch, agree how encounter information reaches billing, how questions return to the clinical team and how unresolved items are tracked. Watch the first claims closely: early rejections often point to setup details, such as provider or payer information, that are easier to fix before volume builds.

Start by agreeing on the scope.

We’ll discuss your existing systems, the work your team handles, and the support you want from Highview. Services, access, reporting and commercial terms are agreed before work begins.

Common questions

Good to know
before the call.

Can we talk to you before we have any billing history?

Yes. Without history to review, the free audit call covers setup, credentialing and workflow instead of a historical audit.

How long does provider enrollment take?

It depends on the payer and on how complete the application is. Each payer sets participation and effective dates after its own review, which is why enrollment belongs at the start of the plan, not the end.

Do you need patient records to start?

Not for the first call. Records are shared only after a business associate agreement (BAA) is signed and a secure process is agreed. Please don’t send patient information through the website.
